Ruth's Story

Here's an image from a story sequence I illustrated for my church. Its sort of a contemporary retelling of the story of Ruth. The photo I just grabbed from google image search, and the drawing was done in flash.

Animation Work

It's been a little while, I've been extra busy now that school has started and I'm interning again too. But here's a little bit of progress in my animating. This shot is part of my final animation that I'm working on for class. The first clip is what I turned in and the second is a work in progress, with revisions from my in-class critique. If anyone else has more suggestions I would really appreciate it, because in terms of animating, I still have a LOOOOOOOOOOONG way to go.

Apple #7

This one was done with the colored pencil tool in Painter. It was difficult to work with as I don't feel they behave like real colored pencils. However, I like the texture they produce.

Third painting finished, for now....

Here's the third painting finished for tomorrow. I would still like to go back and rework certain areas, but it will have to do for now. I am having difficulty with the colors due to switching between the macs at school, my dell laptop, and the desktop that I print off of. It's more inconvenient than anything, so hopefully in the future I'll have a more consistent setup that I can work of off.

Here's what I've got started for my last painting for my class. The assignment is pretty open-ended, we just have to depict action. Comments/suggestions are welcomed!

Character Painting revised

So I went back and revised my painting after receiving some very helpful feedback. I enlarged the chair and pushed it back farther, and adjusted a few other details. So hopefully these things improved it a little bit more. Thank you everyone for all of your help, I really appreciate it. If anyone else has any suggestions please let me know. Thanks!

Character Painting FIN

Here's the finished painting of the cowboy. He's changed a little from his original design, but I think it was for the better. I tried to be "looser" with this one, in terms of my execution, because I didn't like how stiff my environment painting turned out. Any comments/feedback would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Apple #5 Oils

Here's my 5th apple study, this one was done with oil paints. I have temporarily stopped doing apples and I have to start my other assignment now, which is an environment. But never fear, there will be at least 3 more apples to come, for all you fruit lovers. ;)

4th Apple Study

Here's my 4th apple study. This one was done with digital water. Except the highlights were airbrushed, b/c I messed up. :P

Here's my third apple study in Painter, this one was done entirely with Pastels. Any comments/feedback on how I can improve it are greatly appreciated!

2nd Apple

Here's my 2nd apple, this one was done with Acrylic brushes.



Also, after comparing the acrylic apple to the airbrushed apple, I decided to try and give the airbrushed one more volume. This apple was problematic for me because a number of reasons, but mainly because when I started it the light source was very even due to the classroom's fluorescent lights. I think my adjustments helped a little, but I lost some of the detail.

Learning Painter

I'm taking a Digital Illustration class this summer, and we are learning Painter. We have the apple exercises, and here's my first attempt at it. This first one is done with all airbrush tools.

Black Canary Sculpt FINAL

Here is the Black Canary Sculpt in its completion. It went through some final sanding and a layer of primer. This is my third attempt sculpting, and every time I have learned something new going through the process. My Stitch sculpt will be sanded as well, and then I am going to move on to something new in hopes of learning and improving even more.

Dialogue Test

Here is my dialogue test that I made for class. I'm still not completely satisfied with animation, and would like to eventually put in a background, however do to time constraints, it will have to do for now. Any suggestions/comments are welcomed.
